The Valencian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (VRAIN) is a leading AI research center at the Universitat Politècnica de València, established as a University Research Institute in 2021 through recognition by the Valencian Government.

Building on over 30 years of pioneering work in AI, VRAIN stands as one of Spain's largest AI research centers, with 176+ researchers across eight specialized groups, each led by internationally recognized experts.

Our research spans nine major AI areas, from natural language processing and machine learning to intelligent agents and trustworthy AI systems. We maintain a strategic balance between fundamental science and practical innovation, with strong emphasis on technology transfer and doctoral training.

Our innovations drive progress across strategic sectors: from healthcare and industry to energy and environmental sustainability.

Our technology transfer portfolio includes 24 software solutions and patents, alongside 35 specialized AI services available to industry and public institutions. Supported by regional and European funding, we make advanced AI accessible to organizations of all sizes—from SMEs to large corporations.

At the core of our mission is a commitment to Trustworthy, Ethical, and Responsible AI. We ensure our technologies prioritize transparency, fairness, and societal benefit.

As an active member of CAIRNE (Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe) and partner in leading European research networks, we contribute to shaping the future of human-centered artificial intelligence in Europe.
